The Wairarapa Chamber of Commerce, supporting the local business community

Accommodation & Tourism

The contribution of tourism to the local economy comes from three sources: tourism-characteristic industries, such as accommodation, restaurants, transport services, and cultural and recreational services. The Wairarapa has an advantage to other regions in New Zealand, due to our landscape, as we can offer a wider variety of location options from our many coastal locations, the rough countryside, lakes, many rivers & townships ranging in population.

The Wairarapa Tourism industry is continually growing; many Vineyards in the Martinborough & Gladstone area are widening their cliental providing bed & breakfasts, Cafes, Restaurants & Retail Stores. The Wairarapa are hosts to a variety of annual events that continue to grow in strength & size that provides a steady flow of visitors to the region; such as the Balloon Festival, Martinborough Fair, Golden Shears, Young Farmers, Toast Martinborough, Castlepoint Races and much, much more.

With the introduction of direct flights to Auckland Airport & Return within the newly established Masterton Airport Terminal, the Wairarapa can now offer a new/faster method for travel which can be available with our Train service, Local Bus services & Private transport.

The Wairarapa Accommodation & Tourism Industry can only grow and strengthen with the support of the local businesses.
